This sunday we will be training 10-12 on westons pitch 4 weather permitting. Please try and make this if you can as we have a match on the 9th january.

Christmas Meal

Just to confirm the christmas meal is still going ahead 2 oclock wednesday at the angel chef,worcester .We know some of you might not make it due to bad travelling conditions. If travelling please be careful and have a safe journey. The angel chef is located near the bus station by angel place.

Sundays Game Cancelled

Sundays game has now been cancelled.There is no training this sunday so hopefully we will see most of you next wednesday for the meal at angel chef 2 oclock. Please pass this information around your fellow team mates.

Raffle Prizes

One of the u,15s parents is kindly going to do a raffle for us to raise funds for the tour.Please can all players bring prizes or give a donation to buy prizes by next sunday.We would like everybody to help especially if you are going on tour because the fund can be used to reduce the cost of the tour.Prizes can be anything from old gifts to a box of chocolates. Please give these prizes to kim and a record will be kept.

Parents Rugby

Welwyn Away 03/10

On sunday 3rd october we have an away match at welwyn. As both age groups are playing there we have decied to have a coach. Cost will be £10 each. Times to be confirmed.

There will be some space for parents on the coach . I will confirm this once we know how many players are travelling on the coach.

Training

OPEN DAY

There is an open day at the club this saturday. There are various activities going on during the day. The warriors are playing stourbridge in a pre season match on the stadium pitch, kick off at 3. This is free entry for all.

Next sunday we are having an end of season meal get together for all players and there familys. Please meet at the angel chef in worcester at 1. The angel chef is an all you can eat chinese buffet. National 7s

Today was the national 7s at harpenden. Drawn in a pool of 3. Won first game 34-0 and second 5-0. This meant we finished top of the pool. We then played welwyn in the quarter final and it was 12-12 at full time. Then played 5 minutes of sudden death and still level. Then went to drops kicks, and after 7 drop kicks each still level.Thus it went to a toss of a coin which went to us. Then played Berks baa baas in the semi and came out comftable winners 19-5.Then played ellingham and wimbourne which you lost 15-7.

I know that we lost in the final but on the day you played really good rugby and gave 100 % for every game which is all you can do. Today was the last games at u,15s for some of you and the standard of rugby you played today showed that the u,18s are going to be getting some very talented and committed players.

Training/Meal

Wednesday the 2nd june will be the last training session of the season. We will be having a fun session so we would like all parents and family to come along and join as well.

We are also looking at having an end of season meal and get together on sunday 6th june.This will be at the angel chef in worcester. Time and cost to be confirmed.

Herts 7S

Today you played in the herts 7s. Had slow start in the first game but came ot winners with the last play of the game15-10.Won the next 3 games comfortably 40-5,50-0 and 40-0.That put us into the cup semi against paviors. Scored a try in the first half to take the lead but paviors came back to level at half time and score 2 more trys in the second half to be worthy winners 19-5, paviors went on to lose in the final against london irish.

Played some really good rugby today but some times you play well and still loose.

HERTS 7S

National Cup

Played in the national cup today at burfield. First match up was against london irish, had a slow start where we could not get hold of the ball in the first half but cam back in the second half but we still lost 27-5. Next up was Morpeth , this was a much tighter game where the lead changed hands several times but worcester came out winners 24-19. This result put us in the plate. Next up was a strong aylesford bulls team. This was also a tight match and the lead changed 3 times with worcester winning 20-12. In the final of the plate played burfield and came out comfortable winners 36-7.

Good team effort with some really good team play.Had a small squad for the day and Winning the plate was a very good result .

Charity Match

Just a reminder that john is playing in a charity match next tuesday evening at sixways. Entry is £3 and car parking £2 but all proceeds go to charity.Details on the main WRFC web site.7 oclock kick off.

Gloucester 10s

Well done to you all today. You played some really great rugby today and really played well as a team. This was some of the best rugby you have played this season.You should all be proud of the way you played as us coaches are very pleased with your play today.This is no small tournament and you finished top out of 13 teams and beat some of the best u/15s teams in the country.

For those interested you scored 21 trys and only conceeded 1today. This is a very inpressive performance.

Gloucester 10s

On saturday 17th april we are playing in the gloucester 10s. This is an all day tournament so bring plenty of fluids etc. Some have you have already confirmed that you are not available, if anyone else can not make this tournament please let me know. This is a really good tournament with teams coming from wales and scotland to compete.The RAF challenge will also be taking place during the morning .

Nld Final v paviors

Today we played in the nld final against paviors.Paviors started very strongly and soon scored. They kept applying the pressure and at half time were 27-0 to the good. The second half was more of the same but you managed to score 2 trys from kelly and 1 conversion from jess but paviors ran out winners 58-12. On the day paviors were the better team and deserved winners.

Please remember one lose does not make you a bad team.These type of results do happen.Now you need to use this result as motivation and play as a team going forward as there are a lot of tournaments to come.We are not a team of individuals so lets play like a team.

Match v chipping sodbury

Today we played chipping sodbury. I will not go into the match with any detail but the final score line did not reflect the game.Despite the fact we won the game we did not play up to the same high standard rugby that you have recently been playing. Against stronger teams we will struggle if we do not pick up the intensity of our play and do all the good things that we know you are capable of.

For information the final score was 58-5 to worcester. Scorers were liv x4, kelly x3,jade x2 and jazz. 4 conversions from jess.

Sunday 04/04

On sunday the 4th april (easter sunday) there is a 7s tournament at thornbury. We are considering entering a team into this. This would only be for girls not involved in regional.If we get enough interest we will enter a team . Please let us know by sunday if you are interested and available to play.

Match Away vs Paviors

Todays match was away at paviors. Paviors started strong and soon scored a try to take a 5 -0 lead. This was the wake up call that worcester needed and they took the game to paviors. The rest of the half was mostly worcester who scored 4 trys which 2 were converted to lead 24-5 at HT. Paviors started the second half well and applied a lot of pressure on worcester. Paviors had the majority of play in the second half and scored 3 trys. Final score paviors 20 worcester 24.

Need to keep the intensity going for the whole match and not just parts of it and from the whole of the team and not just certain individuals, if you do this you will be a difficult team to beat.

Non Regional Matchs/Training

While the regional programme is on ,if you are not involved in regional we will either be training or combining with other teams to play fixtures. Keep looking at the blog for updates.

Match Away v Thornbury/chipping sodbury

Today we played a combined thornbury/chipping sodbury team away. The first 15 minutes were played in the worcester half and a lot of pressure was applied by the home team.This was releaved with a try by liv which started from inside our 22.This was converted by Jess. The home team scored a try back with in a minute.Just before half time worcester scored another try by liv to make the H/T score 5-12 to worcester.

The home team then scored again about 10 minutes into the second half which was converted to make the score 12-12. The home team applied pressure again and about 5 minutes later looked like scoring again but the ball was riped by jade from the player who was about to score and she ran the full length of the field to score.The rest of the match was played in the middle of the pitch but there was time for one last score from hettie in the last minute of play , to give worcester the win 22-12.

As good as it is to win we are still looking for the performance more than the result. There still needs to be a big improvement in your contact skills and you are still letting a few players do all the work.There also needs to be a big improvement in your game vision as you are still taking contact when there are better options outside of you.

Next sunday we are playing a combined thornbury/chipping sodbury team away. This will be at Dings Crusaders Rfc. Please meet by the indoor training area at 9.45 or if going straight there be there at 11.Kick off is at 12. If you are not at training wednesday and are available to play next sunday please let us know.
